Westwood is the first film to encompass the remarkable story of Vivienne’s life, her fashion, her activism and her cultural importance. Filmmaker Lorna Tucker has exclusive, unprecedented access, following Vivienne throughout 2014 as she juggles the seemingly contradictory roles of world-renowned fashion designer, and impassioned, outspoken (often eccentric) environmental activist.

Since igniting the punk movement with ex-partner and  Sex Pistols’ manager Malcolm McLaren, Dame Vivienne  Westwood has  been redefining   British fashion  for  over  40  years,   and   is  responsible   for creating  many  of the most distinctive looks of our time. Yet at 73 Vivienne feels compelled  to use her position  in the limelight to address our  current  climate  crisis, rather  than  focusing  on  designing and selling her clothes.

The film  follows  the  Gold  Label  SS15  couture  show  through  from  conception   to  exhibition,  seeing  the unswerving  passion  and meticulous attention  to detail  that makes  each  collection a labour  of love for Vivienne and  her  team.  We  also  shadow  Vivienne as  she campaigns on behalf  of her  environmental and  human  rights charity ‘Climate Revolution’: scaling  glaciers  in the Arctic, addressing crowds at UK music festivals, and  waving banners at rallies and  protests across the country.

The film blends  archive,  beautifully  crafted  reconstruction,   and  insightful  interviews  with  Vivienne’s fascinating   network   of collaborators,  guiding   us  on  her   journey   from  a  childhood   in  postwar Derbyshire  to the runways  of Paris and  Milan. This is an intimate and  poignant homage to one  of the true cultural icons of our  time, as  she  fights to maintain  her  brand’s  integrity,  her  principles and  her legacy in a business driven by consumerism,  profit and  global expansion

Lorna cut her teeth as a producer/director creating  a series of stunning shorts and  fashion films for the likes of McQueen,  Vivienne Westwood  and  Nike, as well as shooting several music videos. For the last 4 years  she has been  filming and  editing the feature documentary  AMA’, examining  and  investigating the fallout from the 1960‘s  war  on population  that left over 260,000 women forcibly sterilised in America. .
