Also screening at the festival is Matthew Heineman's newest film City of Ghosts, which premiered earlier this year at Sundance Film Festival.
The Departure shows Buddhist priest Ittetsu Nemoto's unique approaches to single-handedly fight the high suicidal rate in Japan. Over the past ten years his extraordinary methods have proven to be successful. The documentary follows Nemoto at his counselling sessions as well as his personal life and adresses the need of public conversation about suicide. However, his desire of preventing suicide takes its toll. Struggling with his own health and personal life he finds himself fighting the same battle as his patients.
