New Acquisition: The Show of Shows: 100 Years of Vaudeville, Circuses & Carnivals

Dogwoof acquires world rights for Benedikt Erlingsson’s new film The Show of Shows: 100 Years of Vaudeville, Circuses and Carnivals, a co-production between Sagafilm (Iceland) and Crossover Labs (UK) with BBC Storyville, RUV Iceland , SVT Sweden,  The University of Sheffield, and the National Fairground Archive which gave a unique access to their priceless collection.

Dogwoof will handle all world sales with the exception of Iceland, Sweden, Denmark and Holland, and present the film to buyers at Toronto and San Sebastian. The company will also act as UK distributor.

THE SHOW OF SHOWS will close the Sarajevo Film Festival this Saturday and has been selected for next month’s San Sebastian Film Festival where Erlingsson returns after his 2013 Best New Director Award for his debut feature OF HORSES AND MEN. THE SHOW OF SHOWS made its world premiere opening Sheffield Doc/Fest earlier this year and is Erlingsson’s debut documentary feature.

Georg Holm and Orri Páll Dýrason of Icelandic supergroup Sigur Rós teamed up with composer Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson and the band's touring guitarist Kjartan Holm to create the instrumental soundtrack in the film, CIRCE which will be released under the band’s label on August 21st .

THE SHOW OF SHOWS is a tribute of itinerant circus performers, cabaret acts, fairground attractions freak shows and vaudeville chronicled from the 19th and 20th century.
